Vermont Sun Sports & Fitness Center has been putting on triathlons and road races since 1985. We take great pride in producing races that are professionally organized, safe, fun, fair and affordable. You will not find any courses more beautiful than these!

The Vermont Sun Triathlon Series is truly designed for triathletes of all ages and abilities. Each multi-sport event has team divisions so participants can simply "team-up" and do one or two events rather than the entire race. Teams of three are also encouraged.

Series Beneficiaries: This season we will be donating a portion of race proceeds to outstanding non-profit organizations such as the United Way, Keewaydin Foundation, and the Lance Armstrong Foundation.

The Venue: Nestled against the Green Mountain’s, just below Rattlesnake Point is Branbury State Park. The lake region is a most spectacular and pristine place to swim, bike and run. Novice and advanced triathletes alike marvel the beauty of our courses and enjoy the mountains, lakes and streams of Central Vermont. The swim takes place in warm, calm, crystal clear Lake Dunmore. The bike and run courses loop around the rolling hills of the lake. To learn more about Branbury State Park please visit www.vtstateparks.com/htm/branbury.cfm

T-Shirts: T-shirts will be given to all entrants in Lake Dunmore and Half Vermont Journey events. Beautiful custom T-shirts and Vermont Sun logo triathlon race clothing will be available for sale at all events.

A "Best of the U.S. qualifier

USAT State Club Championship Event:  The USAT Northeast Regional Board of Directors have named the Lake Dunmore Triathlon a 2008 USAT State Club Championship event.  Please visit www.usatriathlon.com for complete State and Regional Club Championship and Age Group National Championship information.

Best of the US Qualifier: The Lake Dunmore Triathlon is proud to be the official Vermont qualifier for the Best of the US Triathlete Competition. From April through August, licensed amateur triathletes will compete in their state's designated USAT-sanctioned, sprint or international distance Qualifying Race. Male and female winners will be named Best of Their State and the right to compete at the designated Finals Championship Race. The Championship Race is a highly publicized exhibition event featuring grand staging, a festival atmosphere, a Parade of States competitor entry, and individual recognition for each State Representative. Winners of the Championship Race will be named "Best of the U.S. Amateur Triathletes." If you are the male or female overall winner of the Lake Dunmore Triathlon you will be crowned the Vermont champion and automatically qualify to compete in the Best of the US championship triathlon against the other state’s winners. In an effort to offset the cost of travel to get to the BOUS championship event , Vermont Sun will contribute $125 towards travel expense for both male and female Vermont winners. For more details please visit the Best of the US website at www.bestoftheustriathletes.com

USA Triathlon Membership Info: For information on joining USAT please call the national office at 1-800-874-1878 or visit their website www.usatriathlon.org  All participants in the Lake Dunmore Triathlon or Half Vermont Journey must be annual USAT members ($39/yr) or pay a one-day license fee ($10).

Triathlon Individual Age Groups: will be every 5 years: 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, etc. for men and women.

Important USAT age group information: The age group of a participant will be determined by age on Dec. 31 of the event year, not by age on race day. For example: If you turn 25 years old in November of 2008, you will race and be ranked in the 25-29 age group for the entire 2008 season.

Triathlon Relay Teams: 2 to 3 person teams. Categories will be: all female, all male, and mixed with 39 and under or 40 and over age groups (note: all members of team must be 40 and over for that classification).

Awards: Top 5 overall, top 3 in each age group and top team in each category will receive beautiful custom awards in an awards ceremony immediately following each race.

Complete Results and Splits will be here on our web site and/or on www.coolrunning.com  - hopefully by 9 PM on race day.

Digital Action Photo: Available for sale after events. Visit www.printroom.com/pro/palmares  to view available pictures.
